"Every Man Did What Was Right In His Own Eyes."

Our society has little agreement as to what the proper source of authority is. Some even say that it does not matter what you believe as long as you are sincere.

There was a time in Israel's history in which every man did what was right in his own eyes. The result was atrocities and confusion. Judges chapters 17-21

While Jesus lived on earth, He lived under submission to authority. He recognized the need for religious authority. John 4:34; John 5:30

From these verses we learn that Jesus:

• did not come to do His own will
• could not do anything of Himself
• did what He was commanded

When His enemies challenged Him regarding where His authorization originated, Jesus offered His enemies only two choices regarding the source of religious authority. Mark 11:27-33

Let's examine these two sources of authority.
