"They Are Spiritually Discerned"

Some people think that I Corinthians 2:14, is using the word "natural" to refer to all who are unconverted, but that is a misunderstanding. The unconverted acquire a knowledge of God's will through hearing his revelation. Romans 10:17

What is being discussed by I Corinthians 2:14 is those who rely upon natural observation and wisdom and who are unwilling or unable to let go of that reliance. However, the unconverted who is willing to believe the assurances of God without observing visible evidence is able to receive the things contained in the scriptures.

The basis of Faith is the acceptance of assurances from God concerning things that are not seen. Hebrews 11:1

A person can not cling to subjectivity in religion and also accept the Bible. The person who says, "I wouldn't trade the feeling that I have for all the Bibles in the world" is one of those who Paul is discussing in this passage. The Bible is not compatible with a reliance upon subjectivity. Jeremiah 10:23
